On Thursday, June 16th 2022, we at St Joseph`s Primary School Templemore, Co. Tipperary, Ireland were delighted to welcome staff from Lippert Marine, Europe.

As part of their focus on Community Engagement, Lippert’s innovative idea for St Joseph’s, involved the design and making of two raised beds for the school garden patch.

These beautifully finished raised beds have been made to the highest standard and staff at the school are very impressed with the finish. Eco- friendly paint used on the exterior, ensures a long lasting and weather proof quality necessary in our rainy climate! Their child-friendly height, brightly coloured façade and the inclusion of a selection of attractive garden tools have encouraged all our young budding gardeners to the outdoors!

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Mr Kieran Hasset, carpenter, who carefully crafted the raised beds, Mr Seán Clavin who expertly painted them and to Mr Damien O`Reilly (Operations Manager) who ensured this project was over the line just in time for summer planting season.

Our young students aged from 5-12yrs have been busy planting seeds in them since their arrival. We now eagerly await the harvesting of a crop of red onions, green beans, potatoes, strawberries, carrots and parsnips to name but a few. One Junior Infant class decided to scatter a selection of wild flower seeds into the second raised bed in an effort to attract bees and butterflies to the school garden.

It was most refreshing to liaise with a multinational company in such a worthwhile environmental project. Reaching out to local schools in support of their endeavours is most admirable!

We look forward to many more years of partnership with Lippert Marine, Europe in fulfilling their commitment to Community Engagement.
