As principal of St. Joseph’s Primary School, Templemore, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website. St. Joseph’s is a vertical school with boys and girls in Junior & Senior Infants, girls 1st to 6th Class. We are pleased to offer you this website as a communication tool as one of many ways in which we interact with our parents, community, or those seeking more information about our school.
St. Joseph’s is a welcoming and supporting community where children experience inclusive and empowering learning. We are committed to the holistic development of the children in our care and to make a positive difference in their lives enabling them to live in a global society.
As an educational team, we at St. Joseph’s are dedicated to academic excellence and holding high expectations to ensure that each and every pupil will be a successful learner. We are committed to creating a safe and positive learning environment where staff and pupils promote and model truth, justice & compassion.
St. Joseph’s is also committed to the physical, social and emotional needs of our pupils. We encourage our pupils to be kind, respectful and to be tolerant. We provide an extensive physical education programme beginning every week with 10 minutes of whole school physical activity. As well as initiatives provided under the active school umbrella, pupils are provided with opportunities to take part in many extra curricular activities including GAA ladies football, camogie, soccer and basketball. Similarly, we offer a broad range of health education programmes in our school. Twinned with North Tipperary School Completion Programme, project workers deliver many social programmes to classes including circle time, Seeing Red, Friendship Formula, Copping on Programme and Transition programmes for Senior Infant boys and 6th Class girls. Our teaching staff are trained in various programmes such as Friends for Life, Weaving Wellbeing, Buddy Bench Programme, Stop Think Do and Incredible Years.
We welcome your involvement in your child’s educational experience and our school activities. Ms Aoife Percy is our shared Home School Community Liaison teacher & he also provides parents/ community with a myriad of in school & out of school activities including mindfulness, pilates, wood turning, cooking, I.T. and Christmas crafts. We also have a vibrant Parent Association whose work & commitment is valued and respected. There is always an open door to new members who may have time to give the school, which in turn gives to your child.
We work in partnership with the Board of Management, Staff & Parents and the wider community in the education of each and every child.
