Sounds of Semple Video
The Story & Making of ‘Sounds of Semple’ Video
We feel so honoured to have been a part of this unique & special project called ‘Sounds of Semple’. It was the brainchild of the boys in St Colmcille’s along with Niamh Fenton, Music Educator with Music Generation Tipperary. Who could deny any pupil the use of a hurley in Tipperary?! Magic happened with the boys started making music to the beat of their hurleys.
Fast forward 6 months and we are now so proud of the Sounds of Semple Video & associated documentary! We are very thankful to our Music Director with Tipperary Music Generation, Aidan O’ Donnell who made all this happen and in turn to all the various people & organisations that got behind and supported the project. They include:
- Peter O’Toole – composer (Music Generation Tipperary & member of the Hot House Flowers)
- Naoise Kettle – Cinematography
- Seán Keegan – Sound Recording
- Niamh Fenton- Lead Musician Educator
- Margaret Bourke -Administrator with Music Generation Tipperary
- Lumatech-Additional Tech
- David Morgan and Team at FBD Semple Stadium
- Our friends at St Colmcille’s Primary School as well as Music Generation Tipperary Trad Ensemble
- Funders- ‘We are Music Generation’, Music Generation’s national year of celebration, U2, The Ireland Funds, The Arts Council and locally by Tipperary ETB and Tipperary County Council
We have already experienced so many amazing opportunities owing to this project including attending the World Premiere of the Sounds of Semple in the Templemore Arms on May 2nd . Some pupils spoke on Tipp FM with Mr Fran Curry as well as speaking to and connecting with many journalists / DJs whom we have met along the way including Tipperary Star, The Examiner, TG4 & The 2 Johnnies on 2FM.
