Grandparent’s Day 2023

As part of Catholic Schools Week, on Thursday January 26th we were delighted to celebrate Grandparent’s Day and to have the opportunity to welcome many of our wonderful grandparents back to St. Joseph’s after a two year break due to coronavirus.

Our celebration began with a prayer service lead by Fr. Dominic. Our special guest speaker this year was Michael Maher, who spoke wonderfully about what school life was like during his youth and had a lot of us wondering about what it would be like to have an open fire in the classroom!

Although they were unable to attend the large ceremony in the school halla, our 6 fantastic children in Seoda had a Grandparent’s Day of their own earlier this morning and were brilliantly represented in our ceremony by a touching video which one of their SNA’s, Sinéad made showing just some of the fun and learning that has taken place in Seoda this year.

Tea, coffee and refreshments were served afterwards which gave a lovely opportunity for a chat and to reminisce on stories past. Many of the lucky grandparents were then brought around our school by their grandchildren to see their classrooms and meet their teachers.

There are many more photos of a wonderful day in the Gallery section of our website.
